Jordan Private Tours offer an Adventure trips to Religious, Islamic, Christian and attractive locations in Jordan (Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Dead Sea, Petra and Baptism site).
Petra is an expansive archaeological site that involves a considerable amount of walking. Depending on your physical ability, time constraints, or preference, there are several transport options available throughout the site. These include horses, carriages, camels, and donkeys. The services are optional and can be used at different stages of your Petra visit.
Horse Ride (Visitor Center to the Siq Entrance)
A short horse ride is included with your Petra entry ticket from the Petra Visitor Center to the beginning of the Siq, a distance of around 600 meters. While the ride itself is free, a tip of approximately 5 JOD is expected by the horse handler.
Carriage Ride (Visitor Center to the Treasury and Return)
For those who prefer to avoid walking through the 2-kilometer Siq, a 2-way carriage ride from the Visitor Center to the Treasury is available.
Cost: Around 25 JOD per carriage (for two passengers, round trip).
Camel or Horse Ride (Treasury to Monastery Trailhead)
To reduce the walk across the 2.5 km stretch from the Treasury to the base of the Monastery steps, visitors can opt for a camel or horse ride.
Cost: Approximately 15 JOD per person.
Donkey Ride (Climb to the Monastery)
To ascend the 800 steps leading to the Monastery (Ad-Deir), donkeys are commonly used.
Cost: Around 10 JOD per person.
Animal rides can also be arranged on your return from the Monastery to the Visitor Center, following the same routes and price ranges.
Prices are negotiable and may vary depending on seasonal demand, tourist traffic, and your bargaining skills.
All services are subject to availability and are managed by local handlers.
It's recommended to confirm prices in advance and only hire from licensed operators near official sites like the Petra Visitor Center to avoid overpaying or unregulated services.
